Havana's suburban beach

Havana has a great geographical location in Cuba that provides an amazing array of natural wonders.
Havana Bay is the widest and deepest natural sheltered bay in the Caribbean and is surrounded by incredible Colonial era Fortresses.
The most beautiful and probably most visited natural wonder is Havana's suburban beach.
Santa Maria Beach or Playa del este as it is also known is a pure white sand wonder that stretches 12 kilometers along the Coast of Cuba.
Starting just outside the City limits of Havana all the way to a picturesque Town called Guanabo.
This stretch of Beach easily rivals that of the better known Varadero Beach in terms of warm white sand and beautiful azure waters.
One of the best reason's to visit  Playa del Este is the weekend party that is attended by thousands of Beach Loving Havanitos.
This is an informal gathering that attracts thousands who love Sun sand limpid blue waters and the occasional glass of fine Cuban Rum.
Every weekend like clockwork the Beach swells with people both Visitors and Locals alike.
The sounds of delightful Cuban music played Live by strolling bands can be heard.

And of course the people watching does not get any better than this, Playa del este is where you come to see and be seen. It is a gathering place for Havana's Youth and a place to check out all the Beauty that Havana has to offer.

At http://www.havanadiscoverytours.com/ we offer guided visits and private drivers to deliver you to and help you enjoy this Natural wonder.
Something that must be seen to be appreciated whether on the weekend to indulge in the party atmosphere or during the week when the pace and the crowds are at a slower quieter pace.

Culinary Tours of Havana

sizzling beef platter at Havana's best Chinese Restaurant
There is a misconception about Cuban food that we at http://www.havanadiscoverytours.com/
feel a need to address. For years now I have heard Visitors to Cuba regale us with their fantastic time on the beach and the great open bar at the pool and the amazing People they met.
Often though when asked about the food there will be a pause and then an answer like "well you don't go to Cuba for the food".

That may be the case at some all inclusive resorts but in Havana it is a far different story.  Havana has some incredible restaurants with varied and imaginative cuisine.
The problem as always is how to find them.  It has taken me 8 trips to Havana to now be comfortable in saying that if I wanted I would never eat a bad meal.

Of course few if any Visitors to Havana want to spend 8 Visits testing new Restaurants, and that is where we come in.
At http://www.havanadiscoverytours.com/ we offer  personalised custom tour arrangements and a very popular one amongst our Clients is a Culinary Tour. Our Culinary Tour

Jalapeno Chicken at one of Havana's best Paladar

allows our Clients to experience a different high quality Restaurant every night of their visit if they so desire.

The best Flan in Havana

Some of our favorites are shown here. Few Visitors to Havana are aware of the thriving China Town that exists amongst the Colonial buildings of Havana Centro. Concentrated around a cobbled Pedestrian street some of our favorite dishes are available in China Town.
Havana also has a large selection of Paladar's these are unique to Cuba and basically are Private Restaurants usually in a converted House rather than a storefront setting.
Havana Paladars offer some incredible dining experiences from the Mexican dish pictured here to excellent steaks and some of the best Seafood you will ever eat.  And because of Cuba's Love for sugarcane a sweets desserts in Havana are often delightful. The Flan shown here is the best I have ever had. Of course the best way to experience these and many other restaurants in Havana is take a Culinary Tour from http://www.havanadiscoverytours.com/.

It will change your opinion of Cuban food forever.

Creating a tour business

Like so many people I discovered Cuba because it is the most affordable of all Caribbean destinations. And like so many Visitors to Cuba my feet had barely touched the ground when I realised how special Cuba is.
From the very first time I landed at Varadero Airport my Cuban experience has been positive.
After staying at 2 all inclusive resorts and over nighting in Havana once I decided the Urban/City type vacation was more interesting to me than 7 days on the beach.
From that point onwards I have never looked back. I have been in Cuba almost a dozen times and in Havana eight times.

It did not take long to see the need for the type of website we operate.

http://www.havanadiscoverytours.com/

There seemed to be thousands of people asking the same quuestions I was, namely how can we better understand this fascinating and unique place.
As for myself after quite a bit of research I wondered why are there no online resources available for Visitors who want to be guided though Havana by a Local.
Someone who can show and share all that makes Havana special.
Someone who can speak to me in my language of choice.

I wanted to immerse myself in the Culture and to meet the People and try to understand what it's like to live in a place suffering under 50 years of embargo.
And for the most part this is something I like to discover with my traveling partner. There are other times when the chance to Visit Havana with a Local is priceless.

I have met many Cubans and have managed to only slightly immerse myself in the fascinating Culture and History that is Cuba. My desire to understand grows with each trip and with each new experience.
That in the end is what keeps me coming back.

The desire to experience Havana and try to get some insight into this incredible place is what we offer at http://www.havanadiscoverytours.com/

Come, Join us and see all that Havana has to offer.
